In 1983, CTI introduced a series of reserve standby power supplies, using a DC to AC inverter, for critical equipment which required AC power. These products, trademarked RBS=AC, gave to AC powered equipment the same benefits that the RBS=DC products gave to the Apple II computer: power failure protection and the possibility of remote and mobile applications. CTI's patented designs allowed for a wide range of highly efficient and reliable models with power ratings of 300, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, and 1500 watts, which used a variety of battery packs to meet a variety of holdup time requirements. In 1988, CTI made the successful transition from reserve standby power systems to uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) by developing four (4) models of UPS/power converters to meet the ruggedized requirements of the U. S. Army. Many of these units featured an universal power input which allows AC power input over a range of voltages and frequencies covering all AC standards, or nominal 28 volt DC power input, such as the output of a HUMM-V alternator, or both. In addition, the UPSs accepted power input from internal batteries when the other sources of power failed. Over 2,000 units of one of these earliest models (4200 series) were deployed with the U. S. Army for the CHS1 Standard Tactical Battlefield Computer System. Later, improved units (4300 series) were supplied to the U. S. Army for the CHS2 program, some for the U. S. Army TRI-BAND tactical satellite communications link, and others for the Node Management Terminal system. The versatility of CTI UPS/power converters made them ideal for installation in HUMM-V based systems or in mobile command shelters. By continuing to improve the efficiency of our units, thereby allowing greater output power ratings, and developing a unique battery monitoring and reporting system, CTI is currently refining UPS/power converter units for a joint Lockheed Martin Missile Systems-Raytheon anti-missile system (THAADS). CTI's willingness to modify existing products or create new ones, engineered to meet a client's specific needs, is one of our greatest assets. Control Technology, Inc. supplies to military OEMS: Ruggedized UPSs, military UPSs, and U. S. Army UPSs; Ruggedized power converters, military power converters, and U. S. Army power converters. <!-- Inject Script Filtered -->
